🌿 Why we make our Snack Balls differently!

🌿 Why we're rethinking snacks!
Anyone who keeps guinea pigs or rabbits knows: feeding is more than just providing sustenance.
It's about daily routine, relationship, and attention. Besides fresh hay, water, and vegetables, it often includes small rituals – quiet moments, shared nibbling, curious exploration.
Snacks can be part of these rituals.
But only if they are thoughtfully designed.

🌾 Hay as a starting point
Hay forms the basis of the daily diet for guinea pigs and rabbits. It is rich in structure, familiar, and shapes the natural feeding behavior of these animals.
This is exactly where our snacks come in.
All our Snack Balls – Original, Seeds Flower, Seeds Star, Seeds Nature and Seeds Cloud – are primarily based on herbal meadow hay. Not as a marketing idea, but out of conviction.
A snack doesn't have to be spectacular.
It can be guided by what animals already know.
🌱 Fewer ingredients, clear decision
A look at many snack offerings reveals long ingredient lists: syrups, sugar, grains, or technical binders are not uncommon – often used to influence shape, shelf life, or intensity.
We have deliberately chosen a different path:
-
few, manageable ingredients
-
no sugar, no grains
-
no artificial binders
Linseed meal serves as a natural binder, selected seeds provide subtle differences between the varieties – without abandoning the basic principle.
🌾 Structure that remains familiar
The processing of a snack often influences its texture more than the ingredients themselves. Many gnawing products are heavily pressed or made very compact to achieve maximum shape stability.
With our Snack Balls, the hay structure is deliberately preserved.
The fibers are not compacted but processed in such a way that their natural texture remains visible and tangible.
The result is a texture that doesn't feel harder than hay itself: loose, fibrous, and familiar. The Snack Balls can be pulled apart, crumbled, and slowly worked on – similar to a bundled portion of hay.

For many animals, this doesn't feel like a foreign object in their diet, but rather a familiar form of gnawing and engagement.
🖐️ Handcrafted instead of highly pressed
This structure is not accidental.
Our Snack Balls are hand-formed in our in-house manufactory. Without industrial compression, without high pressure. The mixture is carefully processed so that the hay fibers can retain their natural structure.
Each Snack Ball is a little different – not as a flaw, but as a sign of true craftsmanship.
We take our time with each one, because care cannot be rushed.

🌾 Origin that we openly name
The hay we use for our snacks comes from the Allgäuer Heustadl.
For many years, we have sourced our hay exclusively from this farm and use it for all our snacks – not just for individual varieties.
The Allgäuer Heustadl operates according to Bioland guidelines and stands for careful, regional grassland management. For us, this collaboration is not a marketing promise, but a conscious decision that we made from the beginning – and maintain to this day.
Origin, continuity, and transparent working methods are integral parts of our daily work in the manufactory.
🍃 Variety with moderation
With five varieties, we bring variety to our range without abandoning the basic principle:
-
Original – pure and simple
-
Seeds Flower – mildly aromatic
-
Seeds Star – a bit stronger in taste
-
Seeds Nature – gentle and balanced
-
Seeds Cloud – particularly loose in texture
All variations follow the same basic idea. None rely on artificial enhancement, none on strong stimuli.
🤍 Complementing instead of promising
We don't believe in one product that is supposed to solve everything.
Good feeding comes from many small, conscious decisions.
Our snacks aim to:
-
complement, not replace
-
accompany, not dominate
-
remain familiar, not overwhelm
They are part of a diet based on fresh hay, water, and varied fresh food – and designed for those small moments in between.
Note
Supplementary feed for guinea pigs and rabbits.
Fresh hay and water should always be available.
